Using Learning Strategies Model to Design a Website

Creativity is absolutely important in designing a website.

So, viewers are engaged to the site. However, some website does not consider some important elements such as ADA Complaint while designing a website. As a result, people with disabilities are having difficulties to gain information appropriately.

This week, I evaluated the National Science Teacher Association website. As a non-government organization website, NSTA is well designed. It is clear, clean, easy to navigate, user-friendly with any devices, and provide a ton of information. However, the designer forgets to adopt Design thinking process to their site, especially, the test stages.

As may we know, in the design thinking process, a test is required. In web design case, the designers should look at or preview the site before launching it to the public.

SO, let consider KEMPS instructional strategies to evaluate our website!

In the KEMPS instructional model, when people implement and test the design, a designer should decide what instructional resource is necessary. In this case, the resource is a website. Therefore, to be able to reach out to many readers, a designer must be able to convey all of the user need including people with disability.

In my investigating, I found that the NSTA website is welcome to all of the user preferences. The images are provided with the text below it. It really helps a screen reader to read so blind people can gain information right away. Also, the website is really colorful. As a visual reader, I highly appreciate this case. I feel engaging to the entire of the site.

My opinion says that the designer is able to figure out who is the audiences. EMPATHY!!
